Zandan Kule-Bitola
It is located in the southwest part of Bitola, more closely in the yard of the elementary school "Stiv Naumov" as a lonely Islam object in this part of the town.
There is no written record for the Zandan Kule, but it was built by unknown Bey (Ottoman official) for his own protection. Later it was readapted by the Turkish authorities into prison in the time when in Macedonia the revolutionary move developed. Before and after the Ilinden uprising, the Macedonian revolutionaries were imprisoned here and this is how the building was named Zandan Kule (prison in Turkish).
The building is small, built in stone, with square base and entrance 1.5 meters high and narrow windows protected with iron bars. It had battlements for defense from the enemies and inside it still has preserved Turkish inscriptions.
