Celebration of  St. Tripun

But the culture of nurturing and development of a special relationship towards beautiful and pleasant things is not limited only to wine production when one speaks of Tikveš people. This cheerful and hospitable host always offers his smile and friendly attitude to the world, and he did not forget how to create other beautiful things that will ennoble and enrich his life, but also the life of every unexpected guest who decides to come and visit his birthplace.

The day dedicated to saint St. Tripun is the greatest and the most solemn holiday in the Tikveš region, and St. Tripun is the protector of vineyards, of wine. The festivities take place on the 14th of February according to the Christian orthodox calendar, and, according to local people, this is the date of the second warm winter wave, with the first one being on the 14th of January (Vasilica). Weather changes on these dates, it becomes warmer and "ground eats snow".

The region of Tikveš got its name from the old antique settlement of Tikveš that used to exist at the location where river Tikveš flows into river Crna. At present, there are two major centers in this region – the cities of Kavadarci and Negotino.
