The church St. Nicola in the village of Kosel – the Ohrid area
The simple build of extended type, on the outside is ending with a low three-sided apse and is vaulted with a semi-oval arch. With its small dimensions and shape the church St. Nicola is similar to a larger number of rustically constructed and coarsely plastered monuments from the 15th century in the Ohrid vicinity.

The frescos are greatly damaged, particularly the eastern wall of the altar in the lower zone on the South wall. Basically, the arrangement of the painted ornament repeats the contents of the monuments belonging to the Ohrid district from the middle of the 15th century.

It is worth to mention the images of the Holy Trinity painted on the vault. Better kept are the compositions of the Great Feasts: The Birth of Christ, Presentation of Christ in the Temple, the Baptism and the Resurrection of Lazarus. On the north wall: Palm Sunday, the Crucifixion of Christ, and the Descent into Hell, and the cycle is completed with the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God.
The stylistic features and the particular hand-writing of the fresco-painter point out to the participation of a celebrity and allow a more precise determination of the time of the painting. Namely there is no doubt that the frescos of this church were painted by the same artist, who in the year 1487/8 adorned the interior of the distant monastic temple St. Dimitry near Bobosevo - Bulgaria.
We are talking about one of the more gifted students, tutored in the workshop of the artisans who ornamented the façade of the church St. Constantine and Elena.in Ohrid and the interior of the local church of village of Banica.
