ST. GEORGE IN KONJUH

Approximately one kilometer away from the notable rotunda-shaped church, next to the cemetery in the village Konjuh there is a church dedicated to St. George. The church, which is ruined now, is known among the local inhabitants as the church of St. Nikola.

The church St. Gjorgji, village of Konjuh, 16th century

It is assumed that the church was erected and frescoed in the 16th century. It is small one-pillar structure that was once covered by a hemispherical dome. The east side of the apsis is trihedral and over the western entrance there is a niche where the face of the saint to whom the church was dedicated to was frescoed.

The church was constructed of cut and trimmed stone. It is supposed that the stone was brought from the nearby rotunda.

The inside walls of the church have only fragments of the frescoes in the apse and the niche on the prothesis. One can recognize the figure of the Mother of God with Jesus and beneath the "The Great Entry". The fragments of the composition "Annunciation" have also been preserved.
