THE CHURCH SVETI PETAR, VAROŠ, PRILEP
Among the preserved medieval churches in Varoš is the church dedicated to St. Peter. About this church the science was unable to find any source that will precisely confirm the time of its building and fresco-decorating, but according to certain indicators, it is presumed that it happened in the 14th century.
The church St. Peter, is a single nave build, with extraordinary height and with an apse that is semicircular from the outside. The materials used for its building are stone and bricks, and its walls antique spolii and ceramic decorations can be observed. Due to the polychromacy of the façade, it is often connected and compared to the church dedicated to St. Nikola and situated in Varoš, as well.
The interior od the church was fresco-painted in four zones, but out of the frescoes today are preserved only fragments and partially preserved compositions: "Lamentation", "The Road to Golgotte" and "Assumption of the Virgin".
