Suli An

Suli Inn is an endowment of Ishak Bey from the 15th century and is situated in the old town of Skopje. This is an inn, which, like Kursumli an was built to resemble the Caravansary.

The building has a ground floor and an upper floor, with massive walls and vaults made of stone and brick. The ground floor served as a place to leave the cattle while the guests, mostly passengers and merchants, spent the nights on the floor above.

The roof construction was probably damaged in the fire in 1689 planted by the Austrian army leader Picolomini. Most of the Inn had also been damaged and was later renovated. In 1963 the Inn was destroyed once again and built from the ashes like the mythical bird Phoenix.

Today the Academy of art and the Old Bazaar Museum are situated in the Suli An.
