The tradition and the history of Kumanovo and its vicinity are very well known. Kumanovo is the home-town of the legendary Macedonian warrior Petre Vojnički - Karpoš (leader of the  Karpoš Uprising in 1689), and the churches, monuments and archaeological localities in the vicinity of this town exist as witnesses of its resistance to oblivion and to the loss of values of the past.
