The Government of the Republic of Macedonia has pronounced the year 2001 as the year of tourism. Therefore, the Ministry of Culture is involved in these activities by development of a strategy for cultural tourism that will comprise a comprehensive media campaign for presentation of our cultural treasure and its role in the overall development of our country.

First on the list of activities is the preparation of a digital inventory of the entire cultural treasure of Macedonia, to be used by the people who will be involved in the popularization of the culture from the tourist viewpoint, but also for you, who will visit our country and will get a personal acquaintance with its beauties.

This is why the Ministry of culture, in cooperation with the World Bank has already started a big project "Development of Municipalities through the Culture". Part of the funds awarded to this Project will be used for digitalization of the existing classical inventory, but this web-site, at this moment, can be considered as a popular form of such registry - and even more, it can be considered as the first comprehensive marketing presentation of our country from the viewpoint of cultural tourism.
