14 days

Day 1, Skopje: After the breakfast, head for Matka. We recommend you to spend (at least) 2 hours here, from 9:00 to 11:00. Matka is a locality wehere a greart number of cultural monuments, but also of beauties of nature are concentrated. we recommend you the St. ANdrew monastery and the cave Vrelo, equiped for visitors with the funds from EU Phare CDPIf you have any time left, you can choose to see the Matka monastery, but do not miss the magnificent nature that surrounds you.

We recommend you to be at the St.  Panteleimon monastery, situated on the slopes of the mountain Vodno, at about noon. After you have enjoyed seeing the frescoes at the church,  you can have your lunch here. Or, you could chose to go to the center of the town. 

Spend the time from 12:30 to 13:30 for the lunch break.

At about 14:00 start touring the monuments of culture in the center of Skopje. Go to the old part of the city, at the left bank of the river Vardar. There is the Skopje Fortress (Kale), from where you can enjoy a panoramic view to the city. Just next to the fortress are the church Sv. Spas (St. Salvation) and the Moustapha Pasha mosque. In the immediate vicinity is also the Kuršumli an (Lead Caravanserai) and the Old Skopje Bazaar.

You can select your dinner in one of the many restaurants in the Old Bazaar, or ust cross the Stone Bridge and choose one of the numerous restaurants in teh center of teh city.

2 Day: Tetovo, Galičnik, Mavrovo: If you start from Skopje at 8:30, at 9:00 hours you will be in Tetovo, where you can visit the Painted mosque and Arabati baba teke. It will take you to 10:30, and then start from the village of Lešok, 8 km from the city, where you can visit the famous Lešok monastery, with the two churches St. Athanasius and Holy Mother of God and the memorial room of Kiril Pejcinovik. After one hour in the monastery, you can choose from the two options - to see the village of Galičnik or to visit the St. Jovan Bigorski monastery and the neighbouring villages.

If you decide to see Galičnik, you will then need about one hour and a half to get to the village. At  about 13:00 hours you can start your introduction to the specificities and the beauty of teh Galičnik architecture, the settlement, the old and the new church, as well as the beauty of the extraordinary natural landscape. After two hours spent in the village, at 15:00 hours strart for the village of Mavrovi Anovi that you will reach after half an hour's drive. spend the afternoon in the National Park Mavrovo,  walking by the Lake, seeing the flooded church St. Nicholas, and you can also pay a short visit to the Monastery of Sv. Jovan Bigorski.

If you decide for the option B, i.e., to go from the Lešok monastery to the monastery of Sv. Jovan Bigorski, then, at about 12:45 you will arrive at the village of Trnica, where we recommend you not to miss the tasty kačamak, pie and youghurt, and then, driving by teh picturesque canyon of the river Radika, you will arrive at the monastery at about 13:45. After an hour spent there, at 14:45, start for the villages of Gari and Tresonče, and you can stop on your way to see the legendary brifge Elenski skok (Deer Leap) over Garska river, and at 15:30 you will be in Tresonče, the village of three churches and the birthplace of Dičo zograph, whose icons you can see in the church Sv. Petar i Pavle, as well as in the neighboring village of Selce, in the church Sv. Ilija.

At 17:00 hours start for Mavrovo, and spend the rest of the day walking through the National Park, and sampling the local cuisine. 

Day 3: Kičevo, Struga, Ohrid: If you start from Mavrovo at 9:00 hours, at 10:15 you will be in Kičevo, and you can go straight to the monastery Sv. Bogorodica Prečista (Holly MOther of God Most Innocent). Until 11:30 hours you can stay at the monastery, feel the hospitality of the hosts in this holy place and do not forget to wash with and drink from the holy water that brings health and good luck.

Then start for Struga, where you will arrive at about 12:30 hours. We recommend you to have your lunch at the village of Radozda, and it should be the famous Ohrid trout. After one hour of lunch break, start for the village of Kališta, where you will arrive after 10 minutes ride. You can explore the world-renowned cave churches there until 15:20  hours. 

At 15:30 hours you will be in Struga where you can visit the museum of natural history and the Struga Poetry Bridge over the mouth of the river Drim.

At 16:30 hours start for Ohrid. Before arriving there, stop by the cave church of Sv. Erazmo.

Spend the rest of the day in Ohrid, walking by the Lake and through the old bazaar, browse through the craftsmen shops and feel the spirit of this old town, rich in architecture and tradition. Enjoy the refreshments in the numerous cafeterias in the center of the town, and satisfy the Epicurean in you with the refined Ohrid cuisine.

4 Day: Ohrid:

After the breakfast, start your morning tour with the walk around the Samoil Fortress. Then, start downwards to the city. First visit the church Sv. Bogorodica (Holy Mother of God) Peribleptos. Do not forget to see the part of the church where the remnants of Saint Clement rest, and in the courtyard pay respect to the grave of the great poet Grigor Prličev, the Macedonian Homer. Start towards Plaošnik, where are the remnants of the Early Christian Basilica and St. Clement;s university (the original church was demolished by the Ottoman Turks during their 5-centuries long rule, but a new church is currently being built there). This location offers a magnificent view to the Lake Ohrid. Below Plaošnik, on the terrace that overviews the lake is the church Sv. Jovan Kaneo (St. John Theologian Kaneo). Once you see it, start for the city. Between 13:30 and 14:30 enjoy your lunch in one of the restaurants in the town.

After lunch, visit the Anthique Theater, the churches Sv. Sofia, Sv. Nikola and Sv. Bogorodica Bolnički ("of the Hospital"), Sv. Nikola Gerakomija; then, the House of Robev family (today an archaological museum), and the House of Uranija, today a museum of ethnology, that will reveal to you a chapter of the history of this region, and of the history of the Macedonian people in general.

Dine in one of the pleasant restaurants in the city, taste the delicious Ohrid specialties and, if you are interested (especially during hte summer), you can see a play, or a concert that add special touch to Ohrid nights.

Day 5: Ohrid: After breakfast, start for Sv. Naum. Before arriving there, you can see the cavee church in Gradište. After 45 minutes drive, you will arrive to St. Naum. Spend the day delighting in the extraordinary, magical beauty of this locality. Visit the Monastery church dedicated to Holy Archangels and do not forget to hear the heartbeat of Saint Naum who rests in this church. 

Enjoy the lunch here, and after lunch, visit the small chapel Sveta Petka with the miraculous water and take a boat cruise around the magnificent springs of the river Drim.

You can have your dinner and spend the night here, or go to the fisherman's villages of Trpejca or Peštani.

Day 6: Galičica, Prespa: 

At 9:00 in the morning start your journey over the Galičica mountain to the region of Prespa. We recommend you to take a light lunch with you. During the ride, enjoy the scenery of this National Park and take the opportunity to find the spot from which you can simultaneously see both Ohrid and Prespa Lakes. At 10:30 you will arrive at Oteševo. Continue your trip to the villages of Stenje and Konjsko, that are starting points for the boat trip to the Golem Grad island. You have two possibilities: the first is to stop at the village of Stenje and hire a boat (and a boatman) here - the boat trip should last about an hour and a half; or, driving through the woods, get to Konjsko and hire a boat there. The boat trip from Konjsko to the island will last for about half an hour, but we have to warn you that the road from Stenje to Konjsko is fairly bad.

At about 12:00 hours you will be at the Golem grad island. Walk around the island, enjoy its natural and cultural treasure - the church of St. Petar, the remnants of the church Sv. Dimitrija, the Early Christian basilica, etc. Here you can eat the lunch that we recommended you to take with you. Before going back to the mainland, take a boat cruise around the island.

At 13:00 start for the shore. If you haven't had your lunch at the island, you can now eat at Krani. From here, start for Kurbinovo. Enjoy the astonishing frescopainting of the church St. Gjorgji in this village. At 16:00 hours, you should be at the Slivnica monastery, near Kurbinovo. Spend half an hour in sightseeing of the monastery and its surroundings.

At 16:30 start for the  village of Brajčino. Between 17:00 and 17:45 pay a visit to the monastery St. Petka and you can also stroll through its picturesque surroundings.

At 17:45 you can visit the village of Dolno Dupeni and decide whether you will have your dinner here, or in Resen or Krani.

In the evening, start for Bitola and spend the night there, in order to be ready for an early morning start.

7 Day: Bitola, Demir Hisar, Kru{evo: : Po pojadokot, vo 8:00 zaminete za Pelister. Do 11:00 ~asot u`ivajte vo boite i ubavinite na borot molika, ezerata - Pelisterski o~i, Kopanki itn.

Vratete se vo Bitola, pro{etajte niz bitolskata ~ar{ija, niz [irok sokak, posetete gi crkvite Sv. Bogorodica, Sv. Dimitrija, dvete xamii vo centarot na gradot, Bezistenot i po~uvstvuvajte go duhot na ovoj star konzulski grad. Ru~ajte vo eDay od gradskite restorani, a potoa upatete se kon reonot na Demir Hisar. Po polovina ~as vozewe, }e stasate vo Slep~e kade se nao|a pro~ueniot manastir i crkvata Sv. Jovan Bogoslov (Sv. Nikola) vo blizina na manastirot, Po izminat eDay ~as vo Slep~e, zaminete za @ur~e, ostanete polovina ~as vo ovoj manastir, a potoa trgnete za Kru{evo.

Ve~erajte i preno}ite vo ovoj grad.

8 Day: Kru{evo, Prilep: Pretpladneto e rezervirano za Kru{evo. Pro{etajte niz gradot, zapoznajte ja negovata originalna arhitektura, posetete gi crkvite vo negoviot centar, spomenikot Makedonium i Galerijata na Nikola Martinoski. Ru~ajte, a potoa zaminete za Prilep.

Vo ovoj grad vi se nudat dve mo`nosti. Po kusata pro{etka niz Starata ~ar{ija, treba da odlu~ite dali }e gi posetite Markovi kuli i manastirot Treskavec ili popladneto }e go minete vo poseta na srednovekovnite crkvi vo Varo{.

Prvata varijanta podrazbira da imate terensko vozilo, bidej}i patot do Treskavec e te{ko prooDay.

Ve~erajte vo i prespijte vo Prilep.

9 Day: Mariovo, Kavadarci: Utroto, po pojadokot vo Prilep, upatete se kon `ivopisnoto Mariovo i poznatoto selo [tavica. Isto taka, mo`ete da go posetite i seloto Manastirec, smesteno malku podlaboko vo ovaa oblast, kade se nao|a crkvata Sv. Nikola, zna~aen kulturno-istoriski spomenik vo Makedonija.

Po Mariovo, upatete se kon Kavadarci. , a po pat zaprete vo seloto Drenovo i videte ja rascepenata crkva posvetena na bo`jata majka, ~ie gradewe se povrzuva so Polo{kiot manastir.

Ve~erta pro{etajte niz gradot Kavadarci, ka~ete se na Spomen kosturnicata vo Stariot park od kade se pru`e prekrasen panoramski pogled na gradot, a videte ja i Saat kulata,

Ve~erajte i prespijte vo ovoj grad.

10 Day: Kavadarci, Demir Kapija, Dojran, Strumica: Utroto, posetete ja Vata{a so Spomen ku}ata na Stra{o Pinxur i crkvata Uspenie na Presveta Bogorodica, so narodnata arhitektura i ku}i graDayi od plitar. Vo blizina na Vata{a se nao|aat Mokli{kiot manastir i Spomenikot na strelanite deca. Vo 12:30 ili 13:00 (dokolku ru~ate tuka), zaminete od Kavadarci i upatete se kon Demir Kapija. Zastanete i 15 minuti razgleduvajte ja ubavinata na ovaa klisura, za da vo 14:30 stasate vovillage of Marvinci i go vidite lokalitetot Isar. Mo`ete da se zadr`ite polovina ~as, a potoa upatete se kon Dojran, za {to vi e potrebno okolu polovina ~as vozewe.

Vo 15:00 ste vo Dojran. Pro{etajte pokraj ezeroto, videte gi poznatite ribarski mandri, a mo`ete i da se odmorite vo edno od kafean~iwata vo blizina na ezeroto. Vlezete vo razru{enata crkva Sv. Ilija.

Vo 16:00 trgnete za Strumica, kade }e stasate vo 17:00 ~asot. Vo ovoj grad posetete go Kompleksot na Sv. XV tiveriopolski ma~enici, a vo negovata okolina i manastirite vo selata Vodo~a i Vequsa. Mo`ete da ve~erate i prespiete vo gradot, a kako alternativa vi se nudi mo`nosta toa da go storite vo Bawa Bansko, kade }e gi vidite starite rimski i turski bawi.

11 Day: Berovo, Vinica, Ko~ani (Morodvis), [tip: Od Strumica (ili Bawa Bansko) trgnete vo 8:00 ~asot i vo Berovo }e stasate vo 9:30. Ostanete do 12:00 i videte go manastirot Sv. Arhangel Mihail, kako i berovskoto ezero i borovata {uma. Mo`ete da se odmorite vo edno od kafean~iwata pokraj ezeroto ili pak vo konacite na berovskiot manastir.

EDay ~as patuvawe ve deli od Vinica, kade mo`ete da ru~ate i da go posetite Vini~koto kale. Vo 14:30 napu{tete ja Vinica, upatete se kon kompleksot crkvi Morobizdon vo Morodvis, a potoa kon Gorni Kozjak kade }e go vidite arheolo{kiot lokalitet Bargala i crkvata Sv. Gjorgji vo negova blizina. Mo`ete da ostanete eDay ~as zapoznavaj}i gi ovie dva kulturni spomenika, po {to, po polovina ~as vozewe, }e stasate vo [tip. Razgledajte go gradot, ka~ete se na Isarot, posetete gi srednovekovnite crkvi vo negovoto podno`je, posetete ja crkvata izgraDaya od Andrej Damjanov, potoa galerijata na ikoni vo gradskata crkva Sv. Nikola, ve~erajte i preno}ite vo gradot.

12 Day: Lesnovo, Kratovo: Utroto od [tip upatete se kon Lesnovskiot manastir. Tuka imate mo`nost da go minete pretpladneto, a potoa, po polovina ~as vozewe, da stasate vo Kratovo. Vo ovoj grad videte gi srednovekovnite mostovi i kuli i crkvata Sv. Jovan Opse~en.

Ve~erajte i prespijte vo gradot.

13 Day: Kriva Palanka, Kumanovo: Ako vo 9:00 ~asot trgnete od Kratovo, vo 10:00 ]e stasate vo manastirot Sv. Joakim Osogovski.

Vo 11:00 trgnete kon seloto Psa~a kade ]e stasate okolu 11:30. Dvaeset minuti razgleduvajte ja crkvata Sv. Nikola, a potoa upatete se kon kumanovskiot kraj seloto Staro Nagori~ane, kade okolu polovina ~as mo`ete da se zadr`ite vo crkvata Sv. Gjorgji. Na oddale~enost od okolu 15 minuti vozewe od ova selo, se nao\a seloto Mlado Nagori~ane so crkvite Sv. Petka, Sv. Gjorgji Pobedonosec i arheolo{kiot lokalitet Kostoperski rid. Ostanete vo seloto polovina ~as i upatete se kon Kumanovo.

Vo gradot mo`ete da ru~ate, da pro{etate i da go zapoznaete ovoj zna~aen makedonski centar, apotoa da trgnete za Skopje, kade }]e stasate po okolu polovina ~as vozewe.

Vo Skopje, posetete gi starite du}ani vo Starata ~ar{ija i da gi zapoznaete starite tradicionalni zanaeti na makedonskite majstori.

Ve~erajte vo gradot, pred spiewe mo`ete da poglednete nekoja izlo`ba vo skopskite muzei, koncert ili pak pretstava.

Prespijte vo gradot.

14 Day: Skopje: Ovoj posleDay Day celosno e rezerviran za glavniot grad na zemjata.
