Day 1: Joakim Osogovski, kumanovsko, Skopje:
Spend the morning in the monastery of Joakim Osogovski, near Kriva Palanka.
At 11:00 head for the village Psaca where you will arive about 11:30. Spend twenty minutes sightseeing the church St. Nikola, and then head for the Kumanovo region, to the village of Staro Nagoricane, where you can spend about half an hour in the church St. Gjorgji(Saint George). At about 15 minutes drive from this village is the village of Mlado Nagoricane with the churches St. Petka, St. Gjorgji Pobedonosec (St. George Victorious) and the archeological site Kostoperski Rid. Remain for half an hour in the village and then head for Kumanovo. In the city you can have lunch (or postpone that for your next destination) and about 14:30 you can start for Skopje, where you will arrive in about half an hour.
In Skopje, visit the monastery Monastery St. Pantelejmon, Nerezi, where you can have lunch if you did not complete that pleasant task earlier. After the visit to this monastery, return to Skopje, visit the Skopje Fortress (Kale), walk through the Old Skopje Bazaar, explore the church Sveti Spas (Saint Saviour), Moustapha Pasha's mosque and the other monuments concentrated within the Bazaar.
Choose the venue for your dinner - in the old, or in the new part of the town, that are connected by the Stone Bridge.
2 den: Tetovo, Galicnik, Mavrovo: If you start from Skopje at 8:30, as soon as 9:00 will find you in Tetovo, where you can visit the Painted Mosque and the Arabati Baba Teke. Then you can start for the village of Lesok, 8 km away from the city, where you can see the prominent Lesok monastery with the two churches and the memorial room of Kiril Pejcinovik. After an hour spent in the monastery (at 11:30) two posiibilities are offered to you: to see the picturesque village of Galicnik or to visit the St. Jovan BIgorski monastery and the villages in the vicinity.
If you decide to go to Galicnik, then you will need about half an hour to arrive at the village. You will be there at about 13:00 and you can get acquainted with the specificities and the beauty of the Galicnik architecture, the settlement, the old and the new church and the beauty of the extraordinary landscape. After two hours spent in the village, at 15:00 head for Mavrovi Anovi where you will arrive after half an hour drive. (RRRUUUCCCEEEKKK???). You can spend the afternoon strolling through the National Park Mavrovo, walk by the Lake, see the flooded church St. Nikola, and if you are not tired, you can still go see the monastery St. Jovan Bigorski.
If you have decided on the second possibility - to go to the monastery St. Jovan Bigorski directly from the Lesok monastery, then, at about 12:45 you will arrive to Trnica, where we reccommend you not to miss the traditional kacamak, pie, cheese and cream. Then, driving by the picturesque kanyon of the river Radika, at 13:45 you will arrive to the monastery. After an hour spent there, head for the villages Gari and Tresonce, and on the road stop by the legendary Elenski skok (Deer Leap) bridge over Garska river. At 15:30 you will arrive at Tresonce, the village of three churches and the place of birth of the famous Dico zograph (painter), whose icons you can see in the church St. Petar i Pavle, and in the neighbouring village Selce, as well, in the church St. Ilija.
At 17:00 head for Mavrovo, where you can spend the day exploring this National Park and the magnificent traditional Macedonian cuisine.
Day 3: Kicevo, Struga, Ohrid: If you start from Mavrovo at 9:00 (try to have an early morning stroll around your hotel before that), at 10:15 you will be in Kicevo. Do not enter the city, but go directly to the monastery Sv. Bogorodica Precista (Holy Mother of God Most Innocent), in its vicinity. Untill 11:30 spend the time in the monastery, feel the hospitality of the hosts of this sacred temple and do not forget to drink and to wash yourself with the holy water that brings health and hapiness.
Then head for Struga, where you will arrive at 12:30. We recommend you to go to the village of Radozda to sample their magnificent trout. After an-hour's lunch break, start for Kalista, where you will arrive after 10 minutes drive, and until 15:20 you can explore the cave churches there.
At 15:30 you will be in Struga where you have an hour to cisit the Museum of Natural Sciences, to stroll through the Struga carsija (Bazaar) and see the Bridge of Poetry over the Drim river.
At 16:30 start for Ohrid. Before you arrive there, stop and see the cave church of St. Erasmus (on the left side of the road).
Spend the rest of the day in Ohrid, sightseeing through the charsija (bazaar - the pedestrian street that leads from the giant oak tree to the Lake), the shops of the old craftsmen, as well as the museums that will unveil to you a part of the history of this town and of the history of the Macedonian people in general.
Day 4: Ohrid: You can start your morning with a walk around the Samoil's fortress. You can then start downwards to the old part of the town. First visit the church Sveta Bogorodica (Holy Mother of God) Peribleptos. Do not forget to see the room where the remnants of Saint Clement rest. Outside, in the courtyard is the grave of the great poet Grigor Prlicev, the Macedonian Homer. Head for Plaosnik, where are the remnants of an early Christian basilica and the Saint Clement's university, the first Slavic university. This location offers a magnificent overview of the Lake Ohrid. Just under Plaosnik, on the terrace elevated over the Lake, visit the church St. Jovan Kaneo. Then, visit the Antique Theater (the excavation of which is just about to be completed, with EU Phare funds), the churches St. Sophia, St. Nicholas and Sveta Bogorodica (Holy Mother of God) Bolnicki, Sv. Nikola Gerakomija, The House of the Robev family (today the Archaeological museum), and the House of Uranija (today Museum of enhnology).
In the period between 13:30 to 14:30 enjoy your lunch in one of the restaurants in the old town.
At 14:30 start for St. Naum monastery. On the way to the monastery, you can see the cave church in Gradiste or the one in the tourist camp Ljubanista. At 15:15 you will arrive at St. Naum. Do not forget to hear the heartbeat of the saint who rests in the monastery church. Visit also the small chapel St. Petka, below the monastery, wash with the water from its miraculous spring, and take a boat trip to enjoy the beauty of the springs of the Drim river.
Have a dinner and spend the night at St. Naum, or in the fishermen's villages Trpejca or Peštani.
Day 5: Galičica, Prespa: In the morning, at 9:00 start your trip across the mountain trgnete preku planinata Galičica to the Prespa region. We recommend you to take a light lunch with you. Enjoy the beauty of this National Park (one of the four in Macedonia) and exploit the opportunity to see both the Ohrid and the Prespa Lake, from a marked point on the slopes of the mountain. At 10:30 you will arrive at Oteševo. From here, head for the villages Stenje and Konjsko, which are starting points for the boat trip to the Golem Grad island. You have two options: to stop at the village of Stenje and to hire a boatman here (the boat trip will last an hour and a half), or, driving through the forest, to continue to the village of Konjsko and ire a boat there. The trip from Konjsko to the island lasts half an hour, but we have to warn you that the road from Stenje to Konjsko is not in a good shape.
At 12:00 you should be at the Golem Grad island. Walk around the island, and enjouy its nature and the cultural treasure - the church St. Peter, the remnants of the church St. Dimitrija, the early Christian basilica, etc. It is here you can eat the lunch you brought with you (the island is unpopulated now). Beofre starting for the land, circumnavigate the island by the boat.
At 13:00 head for the land. If you haven't had your lunch at the island, you have the opportunity to eat at Krani. From there, head to the village of Kurbinovo. Enjoy the magnificent fresco-decoration of the church, and at 16:00 you should be in the Slivnica monastery, near Kurbinovo. Spend half an hour in sightseeing of the monastery and its surroundings.
At 16:30 start for the village of Brajčino. In the period from 17:00 to 17:45 visit the monastery St. Petka and, if you wish, you can walk through the landscapes that surround it.
At 17:45 you can visit the village of Dolno Dupeni and decide whether you will have your dinner in this picturesque village or in the city of Resen or Krani village.
We recoommend you to start for Bitola and spend the night there, in order to be able to start for the Pelister National Park early in the morning.
Day 6: Bitola, Demir Hisar, Kruševo: After the breakfast, at 8:00 head for Pelister. Until 11:00 hours enjoy the colour, the scent and the beauty of the molika pine, the glacier lakes - Pelister eyes, the Kopanki locality, etc.
Return to Bitola, walk through its čaršija (bazaar) through the Širok sokak (Broad Lane), visit the churches Sv. Bogorodica (Holy Mother of God), St. Dimitrija, the two mosques (Jeni and Isaac) in the center of the town, then the Bezisten, and feel the spirit of this old town of consuls. Enjoy your lunch in one of the restaurants and then head to the region of Demir Hisar. After half an hour's drive, you will arrive at Slepče, where the prominent monastery is located and the church St. Jovan Bogoslov - Theologian (St. Nicholas) is near the monastery. After an hour spent in Slepče, head for Žurče, spend about half an hour in that monastery, and then start for Kruševo.
Enjoy your dinner and spend the night in this town.
Day 7 : Kruševo, Prilep, Kavadarci: The morning is reserved for Kruševo. Walk trough this old town, get acquainted with its original architecture, visit the churches in its center, the monument Macedonium and the Gallery of the painter Nikola Martinoski. Have your lunch here, or start for Prilep.
Vo ovoj grad vi se nudat dve mo`nosti. Po kusata pro{etka niz Starata ~ar{ija, treba da odlu~ite dali }e gi posetite Markovi kuli i manastirot Treskavec ili popladneto }e go minete vo poseta na srednovekovnite crkvi vo Varo{.
Prvata varijanta podrazbira da imate terensko vozilo, bidej}i patot do Treskavec e te{ko prooden, a vtorata ja nudi mo`nosta da se vidi i `ivopisnoto Mariovo i poznatoto selo [tavica.
Ve~erajte vo Prilep, a potoa odlu~ete dali }e prespiete vo ovoj grad ili }e zaminete za Kavadarci, kade po pat }e zaprete vo seloto Drenovo i }e ja vidite rascepenata crkva posvetena na bo`jata majka, ~ie gradewe se povrzuva so Polo{kiot manastir.
8 den: Kavadarci, Demir Kapija, Dojran, Strumica: Vo Kavadarci posetete ja Vata{a so Spomen ku}ata na Stra{o Pinxur i crkvata Uspenie na Presveta Bogorodica, so narodnata arhitektura i ku}i gradeni od plitar. Vo blizina na Vata{a se nao|aat Mokli{kiot manastir i Spomenikot na strelanite deca. Vo 12:30 ili 13:00 (dokolku ru~ate tuka), zaminete od Kavadarci i upatete se kon Demir Kapija. Zastanete i 15 minuti razgleduvajte ja ubavinata na ovaa klisura, za da vo 14:30 stasate vovillage of Marvinci i go vidite lokalitetot Isar. Mo`ete da se zadr`ite polovina ~as, a potoa upatete se kon Dojran, za {to vi e potrebno okolu polovina ~as vozewe.
Vo 15:00 ste vo Dojran. Pro{etajte pokraj ezeroto, videte gi poznatite ribarski mandri, a mo`ete i da se odmorite vo edno od kafean~iwata vo blizina na ezeroto. Vlezete vo razru{enata crkva Sv. Ilija.
Vo 16:00 trgnete za Strumica, kade }e stasate vo 17:00 ~asot. Vo ovoj grad posetete go Kompleksot na Sv. XV tiveriopolski ma~enici, a vo negovata okolina i manastirite vo selata Vodo~a i Vequsa. Mo`ete da ve~erate i prespiete vo gradot, a kako alternativa vi se nudi mo`nosta toa da go storite vo Bawa Bansko, kade }e gi vidite starite rimski i turski bawi.
9 den: Berovo, Vinica, Morodvis, [tip: Od Strumica (ili Bawa Bansko) trgnete vo 8:00 ~asot i vo Berovo }e stasate vo 9:30. Ostanete do 12:00 i videte go manastirot Sv. Arhangel Mihail, kako i berovskoto ezero i borovata {uma. Mo`ete da se odmorite vo edno od kafean~iwata pokraj ezeroto ili pak vo konacite na berovskiot manastir.
Eden ~as patuvawe ve deli od Vinica, kade mo`ete da ru~ate i da go posetite Vini~koto kale. Vo 14:30 napu{tete ja Vinica, upatete se kon kompleksot crkvi Morobizdon vo Morodvis, a potoa kon Gorni Kozjak kade }e go vidite arheolo{kiot lokalitet Bargala i crkvata Sv. Gjorgji vo negova blizina. Mo`ete da ostanete eden ~as zapoznavaj}i gi ovie dva kulturni spomenika, po {to, po polovina ~as vozewe, }e stasate vo [tip. Razgledajte go gradot, ka~ete se na Isarot, posetete gi srednovekovnite crkvi vo negovoto podno`je, posetete ja crkvata izgradena od Andrej Damjanov, potoa galerijata na ikoni vo gradskata crkva Sv. Nikola, ve~erajte i preno}ite vo gradot.
10 den: Stobi, Skopje: Ako vo 9:00 ~asot go napu{tite [tip, vo 10:00 ste vo Stobi, eden od najzna~ajnite arheolo{ki lokaliteti vo Makedonija. Do 12:00 ili 12:30 mo`ete da go razgleduvate lokalitetot so na voDicot koj }e vi gi otkrie tajnite {to gi krie ova staro mesto.
Od Stobi zaminete za Veles, kade mo`ete da ru~ate, no i da ja posetite crkvata Sv. Pantelejmon da pro{etate niz starite vele{ki maala, da go vidite manastirot Sv. Dimitrija i malite crkvi {to se nao|aat vo negova blizina.
Od Veles zaminete za Skopje, po pat ne propu{taj}i da zastanete kaj manastirite Sv. Bogorodica i Sv. Jovan Krstitel pokraj r.P~iwa, kade patnicite zapiraat da se napijat voda, pomislat `elba, ostavat pari~ka za sre}a i za dobar pat.
